Proper Parenting...

You know you are raising your son right when he wakes up in the morning singing an impromptu song about Jesus and Star Wars.

Garage Sales

A few weeks ago, we had our own garage sale, and David seemed to enjoy meeting all the people who stopped by.

Yesterday, after our Saturday morning donut routine, we went to our church's missions garage sale and then to local neighborhood garage sales. I found quite a few clothes for him and a Tonka truck tent, which he loves.

David made a purchase of his own using his chore money: a truck! It was adorable and funny when the gentleman operating the garage sale asked David how much he wanted to pay for the truck, and David responded, "Uh...duh money...donuts!" Apparently, the man didn't take donuts as a form of currency.

Overall, it was an exciting and thrifty day, and next weekend we plan to do it all again! We love garage sales! Em

Kyle's 1st Father's Day

We woke up, and David and Kyle played Star Wars for a while.

Then, David and I gave Kyle his present: a homemade sneaker card and 2 books.

We relaxed a little, went to church, and had pancakes for lunch. Not a bad 1st Father's Day for a great Daddy.

Snoodies

Almost every morning, Daddy and David wake up and fix our breakfast smoothies (or as David says, "Snoodie!"). David loves to help assemble ingredients into the blender, push the button, and sample the fruits. We Farnhams love our Snoodies!

David loves them so much that he makes duck and frog snoodies during his bath time.

Here's to more snoodies!

First step into a much larger world...

Well, today has been a soccer day. Since this morning, that is pretty much all David has wanted to do. "Go outside. Play soccer?" So of course Emily and I took turns running around the yard kicking the soccer ball. The real fun came later in the day.

David was playing soccer with his cousin, McKenna, just having fun kicking the ball and chasing it down. Then they started kicking the two balls at each other to make them "crash." About this time I turn to see MaKenna kick her ball dead center into David's...ummm... crotch. David just smiled and looked over at Emily and I before saying, "Oh! Pee pee hurt!" He just laughed it off and continued playing. All I could do was smile and laugh as well because in the future it may not be such a lighthearted affair.

A Century of Family

For a Father's Day surprise to my Grandpa (Jack Dake), my mom arranged to take a picture of my great grandma (Granny Dake) with her great-great grandchildren. We met at her nursing home, chatted and loved on Granny, and took quite a few pictures. Believe it or not, Granny Dake is going to be 102 years old in July!!! Grandpa loved the surprise!

Below are Granny (102 years), McKenna (6 years), Annie (2 years), and David (2 1/2 years).

Wow, 102 years old!

Final Adoption Decree

We have a date for the adoption finalization at our county court house. Monday, July 6th! This will register the adoption in U.S. courts, allow us to get birth certificates from county offices, and give us a piece of paper called the "Certificate of Citizenship." The endless amount of paperwork and checks are almost over. This will be the end of a process that started back in July 2005!

My Son the Sun

This morning we woke up, and as is our routine, I count down before I turn on his light. Sometimes I exclaim, "Whooo. That's bright!" Today he randomly replied, "Like the sun?" Too cute!!!
Here's to a bright morning,

I Love My Boys!

Here's a cute picture of the two most important men in my life!

I love you both! Mama

Sunday in the Park with Family

Last Sunday we joined PaPa, Mammy, and McKenna for good times in the park. David especially enjoyed playing with McKenna on the toys,

climbing the hill,

and exploring through the trail while throwing rocks and sticks into the water.

Fun times, Emily

David's 1st Shave

Today my helpful David was assisting me clean the bathrooms, and just like every week, I hand him items from the counter to place on the floor so I can wipe down the mirrors and the counter. When I handed him my disposable razor, he decided to be like Daddy saying, "Mama! Shave like-uh Daddy!"  Then, he said in the calmest voice, "Oooo, Mama hurt." I turned around, and sure enough, he had nicked his chin. Of course, he was a little surprised, but I cleaned him up, discussed the "razor policy," and resumed bathroom chores.

I know I won't be receiving Mother of the Year any time soon, but I couldn't help but smile. I think we both learned a lesson today. :)

Pool Time

About a month ago, Kyle and I purchased inflatable, rectangular pool for the hot summer days. We finally freed it from its packaging, and it's now open season! While the water was a little chilly, David really enjoyed all the splashing created by hitting the water with noodles, throwing Nerf balls into it, and slapping the water with his hands.
Can't wait for more,
Emily
